Historical Skills

  • Students will be able to articulate a historically defensible claim that describes relationships between 3-4 pieces of historically relevant evidence.

  • Students will be able to identify ways that diverse/alternative evidence could be used to qualify or modify an argument.

  • Students will be able to summarize the argument or central idea of a primary or secondary source.

  • Students will be able to identify what a primary source suggests about a historical period or question.

  • Students will be able to explain historical/ geographic context(s) for a specific historical/geographic development or process.

  • Students will be able to explain the significance of similarities and/or differences between historical/spatial developments or processes. 

  • Students will be able to identify and explain short- and long-term causes and effects.

  • Students will be able to identify pattern(s) of continuity and/or change over time.
